Nokia’s Lumia 900, the supposed high end device of the Lumia Windows Phone lineup, looks just like the 800, but has the bigger screen and the better specs. And yet it’s still absolutely stunning; such great industrial design coupled with among the most innovative user interfaces ever conceived, it’s a gem in a sea of boring slabs. In fact, I think it’s even better looking than the iPhone. And it runs Windows Phone 7 - that elusive, much lusted third mobile OS; in my rankings, it has the edge over iOS and is way above Android. Too bad my Mac doesn’t sync as well with non-iOS devices.
I agree. The 900 looks stunning. Hopefully it won’t have the same battery issues the 800 had, and hopefully it won’t be replaced with the 1000 in three months like the 800 was.1
As for syncing with Mac, I’ve finally got a solution. It’s annoying, but it really does help. Install Windows XP with Parallels, and run Zune like a native mac app, ignoring the rest of that OS. Parallels is smart enough to simply place a Zune folder in your Mac’s music area, so everything plays nice. It’s the only way I’ve been able to get my Zune Pass content on my computer, and the lag isn’t bad, since XP runs pretty smooth on even half a gig of ram.

Okay, so the 800 was built for Europe and the 900 for America, but it still sort of feels like one is the sequel to the other, if you’re from Canada. ↩
